이라크 재건 사업 감사 결과 수백만 달러의 자금이 엄청난 낭비와 부정부패등으로 남용된 것으로 드러났습니다.
31일 공개된 보고서는 안보상의 우려 때문에 단 한차례도 사용된 적이 없는 주거 관할 경찰 훈련소를 위한 경비 4천 4백만달러를 비롯해 여러 남용 사례를 제시하고 있습니다.
보고서는 이 훈련소를 세운 계약자는 이라크 내무부의 지시로 올림픽 규모의 수영장과 ,20개의 귀빈용 트레일러에 4백만 달러 이상을 허비했다고 지적하고 있습니다. 보고서는 미군당국은 이를 결코 승인하지 않았다고 밝히고 있습니다.
이 감사는 이라크 재건 사업 특별 감사팀의 스튜어트 보웬 감사관의 지휘하에 이루어졌습니다.

An audit of Iraq reconstruction projects has found that millions of dollars have been squandered because of massive waste, fraud and abuse.
The report being released today (Wednesday) gives several examples of the abuse, including a 44 million dollar residential police training camp that has never been used because of security concerns.
The audit says the contractor building the camp (U.S.-based DynCorp) spent more than four million dollars on an Olympic-sized swimming pool and 20 VIP (Very Important Person) trailers ordered by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, but never authorized by U.S. officials.
The report says officials also can not account for more than 36 million dollars of weapons and equipment, such as armored vehicles and body armor.
