국제 원유가격이 18개월만에 최저 수준으로 내려갔습니다.
9일, 미국 뉴욕 현물거래소에서 서부텍사스산 중질유 2월 인도분이 1배럴 당 전날 보다 2달러나 낮은 53달러 88센트로 거래됐습니다. 이 같은 원유가격은 2005년 6월 이래 최저 수준입니다.
국제 원유가격이 이처럼 하락한 것은 벨라루시 송유관을 경유하는 러시아의 유럽에 대한 원유공급 중단 조치에도 불구하고 겨울철 난방유 수요가 많은 미국 동북부 지역의 온화한 날씨 탓으로 난방유 비축량이 늘어났기 때문인 것으로 분석되고 있습니다.
원유가격은 석유수출국기구, 오펙 회원국들이 지난 해 11월 산유량을 하루 1백만 배럴 감축하기로 합의했음에도 불구하고 계속해서 하락세를 나타내고 있습니다.

The price of crude oil has fallen to its lowest level in more than 18 months as mild weather in the northern hemisphere has caused inventories to rise.
Light sweet crude for February delivery today (Tuesday) dropped as much as two dollars a barrel to 53 dollars and 88 cents. That is the lowest price per barrel in New York trading since June 2005.
The price drop comes despite the disruption of Russia's oil exports to Europe. Moscow refuses to pay a newly imposed customs tax by Minsk for its oil crossing Belarus, which supplies 20 percent of Russian oil to Europe.
Oil also declined as traders expressed skepticism OPEC plans to cut oil production by another 500-thousand barrels per day. The international oil cartel agreed to a production cut of one million barrels per day in November, but prices have continued to drop.
