팔레스타인의 상쟁 파벌인 하마스와 파타 간의 폭력사태가 고조되고 있는 가운데 양측은 가자지구에서 병력을 철수하기로 합의했습니다. 파타당을 이끌고 있는 마흐무드 압바스 팔레스타인 자치정부 수반과 하마스 소속인 이스마일 하니예 총리는 5일 긴급회의를 열고 이같이 합의했습니다.
이날 회의는 앞서 4일 하마스 무장대원들이 압바스 수반 추종자인 모하메드 가예브 대령의 자택을 로켓포와 수류탄으로 공격한데 이어 열렸습니다.
이번 공격으로 가예브 대령과 경호원 6명이 사망했습니다.
한편, 수천명의 팔레스타인인들은 5일 가예브 대령의 장례행렬에 참여했습니다. 애도객들은 하마스에 대한 보복을 촉구했습니다.

The leaders of rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah have agreed to pull back their forces in the Gaza Strip, in the wake of escalating violence between the two sides.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas held emergency talks after the killing Thursday of a commander loyal to Mr. Abbas. Colonel Mohammed Ghayeb was killed with six of his bodyguards when Hamas fighters bombarded his home with rockets and grenades.
Thousands of Palestinians marched in a funeral procession today (Friday) for the Fatah men. Mourners called for revenge against Hamas.
The two groups are locked in a bitter power struggle.
Assailants today gunned down a Muslim cleric in Gaza after he gave a sermon calling for an end to the violence.
