무샤라프 장군은 뉴 델리 텔레비전과의 회견에서, 최근 발표한 자서전인 <사선에서>와 앞선 회견들에서 운을 띄웠던 그같은 제안의 개요를 밝혔습니다.
그러나 무샤라프 장군은 인도가 같은 행동을 취하지 않을 경우에는 파키스탄 영유권 주장을 포기하지 않을 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.
인도는 아직 그같은 제의에 대해 직접적인 반응을 보이지 않고 있습니다.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf says Pakistan will give up its claim to Kashmir if India agrees to give the disputed territory autonomy under the joint supervision of both countries.
In an interview with New Delhi Television, General Musharraf outlined the proposal which is similar to proposals he has floated in earlier interviews and in his recent autobiography, "In the Line of Fire."
The general said he would not give up the claim to Kashmir unless New Delhi does the same.
India has not directly responded to the proposal. Both countries now claim all of the region.
A peace process was initiated in 2004. High level negotiations are expected to resume in January.
