반인륜범죄로 이틀전 교수형을 선고받은 이라크의 전 독재자 사담 후세인이 이틀만에 법정에 출두해 이라크인들의 국가적 화합을 촉구했습니다.
사담 후세인은 쿠르드족 대학살 혐의로 7일 재판에 출석해 “이라크인들은 아랍계와 쿠르드계 모두 서로를 용서하며 화해하고 악수해야 한다”고 촉구했습니다.
검찰은 사담 후세인과 그의 측근 6명이 지난 1988년 이라크 북부에서 18만명 이상의 쿠르드족을 살해한 안팔 작전을 명령한 혐의로 기소했습니다.

Former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has urged Iraqis to seek national reconciliation -- two days after a court sentenced him to hang for crimes against humanity.
Saddam called on "all Iraqis, Arabs and Kurds, to forgive, reconcile and shake hands" as he returned to a Baghdad court today (Tuesday) to face charges of genocide.
Prosecutors accuse Saddam and six co-defendents of killing more than 180-thousand Kurds in the 1988 Anfal campaign in northern Iraq.
One Kurdish witness testified that Saddam's forces gunned down his friends and relatives after promising amnesty.
Another witness corroborated the story and submitted a video of a mass grave found near his village.
Sunday, Iraq's High Tribunal condemned Saddam to death by hanging for ordering the killing in 1982 of 148 Shi'ite villagers (in Dujail).
