British Prime Minister Tony Blair has warned that failure to act urgently over climate change will lead to global disaster.
Mr. Blair presented a British report today (Monday) that says climate change will eventually trigger major disruption to economic and social activity on a scale similar to the two world wars and the Great Depression.
Speaking at the presentation, the prime minister said unless action is taken now, the "consequences, disastrous as they are, will be irreversible."
The author of the report, Nicholas Stern, says that acting now to cut greenhouse gas emissions would cost about one percent of the global gross domestic product.
