조지 부쉬 미국 대통령은 5년전 공중 납치범들이 두 대의 여객기를 납치해 세계무역센터 건물에 첫번째로 돌진했던 오전 8시 46분 바로 그 시각에 뉴욕시 소방수들 및 경찰관들과 함께 묵념을 올렸습니다.
부쉬 대통령은 또한 11일 또 다른 여객기로 테러 공격을 받은 국방부 청사와 4번째 납치 여객기가 추락했던 펜실베니아주 벌판에서의 추모 행사에도 참가할 예정입니다. 5년 전 9월 11일 미국에 대한 테러 공격에서 근 3천 명이 목숨을 잃었습니다. 9-11 테러 공격 희생자들을 위한 추모 행사는 또한 11일 러시아와 영국을 포함한 다른 나라들에서도 열리고 있습니다.

Americans are marking the fifth of the September 11th terrorist attacks today (Monday), by observing moments of silence and reading the names of the victims.
President Bush joined firefighters and police officers at 8:46 in the morning local time in New York City -- the exact time hijackers crashed the first of two airliners into the World Trade Center and destroyed the famous twin towers.
Bagpipes played at Ground Zero, the site where the tall towers once stood, as police officers marched down the ramp into the large pit. Family members of victims remembered their loved ones.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said five years after the attacks, the nation still stands together.
Later today (Monday), Mr. Bush will also participate in ceremonies at the Pentagon near the nation's capital, hit by another airliner, and in an empty field (near Pittsburgh) in Pennsylvania, where a fourth hijacked jet crashed after passengers tried to overpower their captors.
Nearly three thousand people were killed in the attacks on this day five years ago.
Memorial observances for the September 11th victims are also being held in other countries today (Monday), including Russia and Great Britain.
