중국에서는 현재 부실 행정체계로 인해 약 1억명의 빈민층이 국가지원을 제대로 받지 못하고 있다고 중국의 한 관리가 24일 밝혔습니다.
중국에서는 연간소득 85달러나 하루 23센트를 벌지 못하면 빈곤층으로 분류 된다고 중국 정부는 말했습니다.
중국의 관영영자신문, [차이나 데일리]는24일, 빈곤선이 국제기준인 하루 1달러로 재 조정되어야 한다는 한 빈곤퇴치 담당 관리의 말을 인용, 보도했습니다.
이 기사는 빈곤선이 높아질 경우 빈민층으로 분류되는 주민수는 1억 2천만명 내지 1억 3천만명으로 늘어나고, 따라서, 식량과 의류, 쉼터 등 국가지원을 받는 사람들의 수도 증가할 것이라고 지적했습니다.
또한 연소득 85달러로 정해진 빈곤선은 중국인구 전체 평균 소득의 5분의 1에 해당된다고 이 기사는 밝혔습니다.

A Chinese government official says up to 100 million poor people are not receiving state assistance because the official poverty line is set too low.
Currently, Beijing says people are in living in poverty if they earn less than 85 dollars (680 yuan) a year, or about 23 cents a day. That figure places 23 million people in China below the poverty line.
The official China Daily newspaper quotes a poverty alleviation official (Wu Zhong) as saying the poverty line should be raised to the internationally-accepted level of one dollar a day.
The report says a higher poverty line would raise the number of people classified as poor to between 120 million and 130 million, enabling more people to get state help with food, clothing and shelter.
The newspaper says the current poverty line of 85 dollars a year is about one-fifth of the average person's income in China's countryside.
