교황 베네딕토 16세는 19일. 이번 주 바그다드에서 납치된 한 이라크인 카톨릭 신부의 석방을 호소했습니다.
베네딕토 16세는 지난 15일 예배를 마친 후 무장괴한들에게 끌려간 사아드 시로프 한나 신부의 납치를 매우 슬프게 생각한다고 말했습니다. 교황청 국무장관 안젤로 소다노 추기경이 대신 서명한 전문에서 교황은 납치범들이 이 신부를 석방해 그가 하느님의 예배와 기독교 사회와 이라크 국민들에게 돌아올 수 있도록 해 줄 것을 호소했습니다.
이 메시지는 또한 교황의 이같은 생각이 이라크에서 납치된 모든 희생자들에게 향한 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

Pope Benedict has appealed for the release of an Iraqi Catholic priest kidnapped earlier this week in Baghdad.
The pontiff said he was deeply saddened by the kidnapping of Father Saad Syrop Hanna, grabbed by gunmen after a religious service Tuesday.
In a telegram (signed by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano) the pope appealed to the abductors to release the priest and allow him to return to the service of God, the Christian community and his countrymen.
The message said the pontiff's thoughts also go out to all victims of abduction in Iraq. He expressed hope that such actions as well as the daily bloodshed blocking reconciliation and reconstruction in Iraq will soon end.
The papal message was addressed to Patriarch Emmanuel Delly, the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church, an Eastern Rite church, which recognizes the authority of the pope.
