이라크에서는 최근 폭력사태가 끊이지 않고 있는 가운데 수도 바그다드에서 16일 폭탄공격으로 최소한 21명이 사망했습니다.
경찰은 바그다드에서 두 건의 차량폭탄 공격이 발생해 최소한 13명이 사망하고 40여명이 부상했다고 말했습니다. 또 바그다드의 버스정류장 부근에서 발생한 폭탄공격으로 8명이 사망하고 최소한 28명이 부상했습니다.
이라크 보건 관리들은 지난달 이라크 전역에서 폭력사태로 인한 이라크인 사망자는 2003년 미국의 이라크 침공 이래 가장 많은 약 3천5백명에 달한다고 말했습니다.
한편 바스라에서는 무장괴한들이 주지사 사무실을 공격하는 사건이 발생했으며 경찰은 이와 관련해 5명을 체포했다고 밝혔습니다. 또 바그다드 북부 모술에서는 저항분자들과 경찰 간에 교전이 벌어졌습니다. 경찰은 저항분자 4명을 사살하고 6명을 체포했다고 말했습니다.

Bomb blasts in Baghdad Wednesday killed at least 21 people, as violence in Iraq showed no sign of abating.
Police say two car bombs went off in the capital, killing at least 13 people and wounding more than 40 others. A separate blast near a bus station in Baghdad killed eight people and wounded at least 28 others.
Health officials said nearly 35-hundred Iraqis died last month in violence nationwide, the highest toll for civilians since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
In other violence Wednesday, armed gangs attacked the governor's office in Basra, and police say they arrested five of the gunmen. North of Baghdad, in Mosul, insurgents fought Iraqi police. Police said they killed five insurgents and arrested six.
