이스라엘과 헤즈볼라 무장세력 간의 한달 여에 걸친 전투를 종식하도록 한 유엔의 정전 결의안에 따라 레바논 군 병력이 레바논 남부지역에 배치되고 있습니다.
레바논 군인들은 트럭과 장갑차, 지프 등으로 리타니 강을 넘어 남부의 이스라엘 국경쪽으로 이동하기 시작했습니다.
이번 주 초에 이스라엘 군 병력이 철수한 전략지역인 마르자윤에는 레바논 군 병력과 탱크들이 진입했습니다. 마르자윤은 이스라엘 국경에서 8 킬로미터 떨어진 기독교도 거주 지역입니다. 치피 리비니 이스라엘 외무장관은 이들 지역에 대한 이양은 레바논 내 유엔 병력이 증강되고 레바논 군이 이 지역을 통제하는 데 달려 있다고 말했습니다.
프랑스는 새로운 평화유지군 병력을 주도하기로 합의했습니다. 그러나 프랑스의 르 몽드 신문은 프랑스가 장교 12명과 2백명의 병사만을 파견할 것이라고 보도했습니다. 언론보도들은 익명의 관리들이 프랑스는 평화유지군의 교전원칙이 분명해진 이후 병력 수준을 결정할 것이라고 말했다고 전했습니다.

Lebanese troops are deploying in the southern part of the country in line with a U.N. resolution on ending the month-long war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas.
Soldiers in trucks, armored carriers and jeeps crossed the Litani River today (Thursday) and moved south toward the Israeli border.
Troops moved into Marjayoun, a mainly Christian town eight kilometers from the Israeli border that Israel vacated earlier this week. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni says the transfer depends on U.N. forces in Lebanon being reinforced and the Lebanese army taking control of the area.
France has agreed to lead the new international peacekeeping force. But a French news report (in Le Monde) says France will only send 12 officers and 200 troops. News reports quote unnamed officials as saying France will decide on its troop level when the rules of engagement for the force are clear.
