인도네시아의 휴양지 발리에서 지난 2002년에 발생한 폭탄테러와 관련해 수감됐던 이슬람 과격분자들 가운데 1명이 석방되고 나머지 관련자 11명은 감형 조치됐습니다.
이번에 석방된 푸르얀토씨는 인도네시아 독립기념일을 맞아 4개월 감형 조처를 받고 석방됐습니다. 5년에서 16년 사이 형을 선고받은 나머지 관련자들도 4개월씩 감형 조처됐습니다.
이들은 202명을 사망하게 한 발리 나이트클럽의 폭발사건 주모자들에게 자금을 지원하고 은신처를 제공했다고 인도네시아 정부 관리들은 말했습니다. 당시 폭발사건으로 인한 사망자는 대부분 외국인들이었습니다.
인도네시아는 기념일을 맞아 관례적으로 수감자들의 형을 감형하고 있으나 생존자들은 이번 조처는 인도네시아 정부가 테러에 제대로 대처하지 못하고 있음을 보여주는 것이라며 항의했습니다.

An Islamic militant jailed for his role in the 2002 bombings on the Indonesian resort island of Bali has been released from prison, while 11 other people linked to the blasts have had their jail sentences reduced.
The militant who was freed, Puryanto, was allowed to leave prison after his sentence was cut by four months in honor of Indonesia's independence day. The others, who are serving jail terms of five to 16 years, also had their sentences reduced by four months.
Officials say the 12 men carried out robberies, financed the attacks and sheltered key figures in the nightclub bombings that killed 202 people, many of them foreign tourists.
Indonesia reduced the sentences of some 54-thousand prisoners for the holiday. The practice is customary. But the move has drawn protests from survivors of the blasts, who say that the reduction shows Indonesia's government is soft on terrorism.
