말레이시아는 관광업계를 활성화시키기 위한 노력의 일환으로 23개국 관광객들에게 도착 즉시 비자 즉 입국사증을 발급해 줄 계획입니다.
이 같은 비자를 발급받을 수 있는 나라들 가운데는 중국과 인도, 파키스탄, 방글라데시, 버마등이 포합됩니다.
말레이시아의 ‘뉴 스트레이츠 타임스’ 신문은 그 나라 라드지 세이크 아흐마드 내무 장관의 말을 인용해 이 같은 비자를 발급받은 관광객들은 말레이시아에서 한달까지의 체류가 허용될 것이라고 보도했습니다.
말레이시아 내무부는 별 문제가 없는 한 내년까지 미화로 27달러 정도에 이 같은 비자를 발급받을 수 있게될 것이라고 말했습니다.
말레이시아에서 관광업계는 국내에서 두번째로 많은 외화를 벌어들이고 있습니다. 말레이시아 정부는 내년 2007년에 2천 만명의 관광객을 끌어들이기 원하고 있다고 말하고 있습니다.
말레이시아 관광 업계는 싱가포르나 태국과 같은 이웃 나라들과의 치열한 경쟁에 직면해 왔습니다.

Malaysia is offering visas-on-arrival to citizens of 23 countries in an effort to boost tourism.
Visitors from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma are among those eligible for the visas.
Malaysia's New Straits Times quotes Home Minister Radzi Sheikh Ahmad as saying the visas will allow tourists to stay in the country for up to one month.
Malaysia's home ministry says the visas will be available for 27 (U.S.) dollars throughout next year if no problems are experienced.
Tourism is the country's second-largest foreign-exchange-earning sector.
The government says it hopes to attract 20 million tourists in 2007. Malaysia's tourism sector has been facing competition from its neighbors including Singapore and Thailand.
