세계무역기구, WTO 가입을 위한 러시아측 협상 대표는 러시아가 올해는 물론 내년에도 어쩌면 WTO에 가입하지 못할 지도 모른다고 말했습니다.
러시아의 맥심 메드베드코프 대표는 31일 서부 시베리아에서 열린 한 기업인 회의에서 연설을 통해 러시아는 WTO 회원국이 되기 위한 준비와 가입에 따른 모든 이해 득실을 평가하기 위해 더 많은 시간이 필요하다고 말했습니다.
러시아는 WTO의 여러 회원국들과는 합의를 이뤄왔지만 미국과의 합의 노력이 성공을 거두지 못함에 따라 러시아의 13년째 계속돼 온 WTO 가입 모색은 방해 받고 있습니다. 미국과 러시아는 지적재산권 보호와 러시아 금융분야 개방 그밖의 다른 문제 등을 둘러싸고 논쟁을 벌이고 있습니다.

Moscow's chief negotiator to talks on Russia's entry to the World Trade Organization says the country will not join the group this year, and may not join next year either.
Speaking at a business conference in western Siberia today (Monday), Maxim Medvedkov said Russia needs more time to prepare for W.T.O. membership, and to weigh all the benefits and drawbacks of accession.
Russia has made agreements with numerous W.T.O. members, but its 13-year quest to join the trade group has been hampered by unsuccessful efforts to reach a deal with the United States.
Washington and Moscow have been haggling over protection for intellectual property, access to Russia's banking sector, and
other issues.
Russia is the largest economy outside the 149-nation W.T.O.
