북한은 이같은 한미 군사훈련을 북한에 대한 위협으로 간주하고있습니다. 북한당국은 21일, 미군의 핵 항공모함 ‘엔터프라이즈’호가 남한항구에 기항중인데 대해, 미군이 한반도에서 핵 전쟁을 일으키려는 계획의 일환이라고 주장했습니다.
이달초 북한이 일곱발의 미사일을 시험발사한 후 한반도의 긴장이 고조되고 있습니다.
유엔 안전보장이사회는 북한의 행동을 규탄하고, 북한에 대해 핵 계획을 중단할 것을 촉구했습니다.

U.S. and South Korean military officials say they will move forward with plans for annual joint military drills.
Their Combined Forces Command said today (Friday) it will hold its annual war games from August 21st to September first. The drills, called Ulchi Focus Lens, will involve eight thousand U.S. troops and an undisclosed number of South Koreans.
North Korea generally considers such military exercises a threat.
Pyongyang said today (Friday) a port call by a U.S. aircraft carrier in South Korea is part of a plan by the U.S. to start a nuclear war on the peninsula. The U.S.S. Enterprise is in South Korea on a routine visit.
Tensions on the Korean peninsula have grown since Pyongyang test-launched seven ballistic missiles earlier this month. The United Nations Security Council condemned the action and called for an end to North Korea's nuclear program.
