북한에 태풍 폭우와 홍수가 발생해 9천여명의 이재민이 발생했습니다. 적십자사 관리들은 14일부터 시작된 집중 폭우가 쏟아져 평안남도와 황해북도 그리고 강원도 일부 지방이 초토화됐다고 말했습니다.
이로써 최소한 100여명의 북한주민들이 사망했거나 실종했습니다. 홍수와 산사태로 마을 전체가 휩쓸려 나갔고, 농경지가 훼손됐습니다. 도로와 다리, 통신 시설도 유실됐거나 훼손됐습니다.
적십자사 관리들은 2천 3백여명의 현지 자원 봉사자들이 북한 태풍 피해지역에서 응급치료와 구조, 대피 활동을 돕고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

Typhoon rains and flooding have displaced nine thousand people in North Korea.
Red Cross officials say torrential downpours that began Friday have devastated the provinces of South Pyongan, North Hwanghe and Kangwon. At least 100 people are dead or missing.
Flooding and landslides have washed away entire villages, and destroyed agricultural fields. Roads, bridges and communication lines are damaged or destroyed.
The Red Cross says more than 23-hundred local volunteers are helping with first aid, rescue, and evacuation efforts.
Rain has pummeled the region over the past two weeks. In Japan, three people are dead and 16 others are missing after heavy rain triggered mudslides and flooding there.
And in South Korea, disaster areas have been designated in parts of the country where torrential rains killed at least 19 people and left 29 others missing.
