South Korea has designated disaster areas in parts of the country where torrential rains have killed at least 19 people and left 29 others missing.
The government designated 18 cities and counties as special disaster zones today (Tuesday), offering financial support to victims in those areas.
As much as 53 centimeters of rain has fallen over the eastern province of Kangwon since Friday.
Rain has flooded homes, swept away roads and knocked out power in many areas. Thousands of people have taken refuge in temporary shelters.
The rain is expected to continue throughout this week.
