말레이시아는 13일, 현금이나 철강과 시멘트 마그네시아 등과 같은 광물들과 교환조건으로 2천만 달러 상당의 팜유를 북한에 제공하기로 합의했습니다.
말레이시아의 피터 친 재배물자부장관은 이날, 이 같은 결정은 인도주의적인 차원과 북한의 어려운 경제사정을 고려해 이루어진 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 친 장관은 또한 이번 무역거래는 정치적인 것이 아니라고 말했습니다.
친 장관은 수백톤의 팜유가 선편으로 북한에 보내질 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 이것은 2000년에 체결된 무역협정의 연장입니다.

Malaysia has agreed to send 20 million dollars worth of palm oil to North Korea in exchange for cash or commodities such as steel, cement and magnesia.
Malaysia's minister of plantation and commodities (Peter Chin) said today (Thursday) the decision was reached on humanitarian grounds and in consideration of the adverse economic conditions in North Korea. He said the trade deal is not political.
The minister said hundreds of tons of palm oil will be shipped to North Korea. It is an extension of a trade agreement forged in 2000.
The agreement comes as North Korea faces increasing isolation from its neighbors due to Pyongyang's recent launch of ballistic missiles.
