한국의 농민과 시민 운동가 등 수 천명은 서울에서 미국과의 자유무역 협정 FTA 체결을 위한 협상에 반대하는 시위를 이틀째 계속했습니다.
적어도 5천명의 시위대는 서울 도심을 행진하는 동안 한미간 자유무역협정에 반대하는 구호를 외쳤습니다. 이보다 앞서, 한국과 미국의 무역 당국자들은 서울의 한 호텔에서 이틀째 협상을 벌였습니다. 시위대가 협상을 교란하는 것을 막기 위해 호텔 주변에는 약 3천명의 시위 진압 경찰이 배치됐습니다.
한국의 농민들은 값싼 미국의 수입농산품에 국내 시장을 개방하는 것을 강력하게 반대하고 있습니다. 한국 정부는 미국과의 협정에서 쌀 부문이 배제되기를 바라고 있지만, 미국 정부는 쌀과 다른 농산품들이 포괄적인 합의의 일부분이 돼야 한다고 주장하고 있습니다.

Thousands of South Korean farmers and activists have rallied for a second day in Seoul to protest the government's talks with the United States on a free trade agreement.
At least five-thousand demonstrators chanted slogans against a free trade deal during a march through the center of Seoul today (Tuesday).
Earlier, South Korean and U.S. trade officials gathered at a Seoul hotel for a second day of negotiations on a free trade deal. About three-thousand riot police have been deployed around the hotel to prevent protesters from disrupting the talks.
South Korean farmers strongly oppose opening domestic agricultural markets to cheaper American imports.
Protesters have promised to mobilize as many as 100-thousand demonstrators as the trade talks continue during the week.
Seoul wants the rice sector to be left out of any deal, but Washington insists rice and other farm products should be part of a comprehensive agreement.
