해외에 망명중인 팔레스타인의 집권 하마즈 정치지도자는 팔레스타인 민병대에 억류당해 있는 이스라엘군의 석방을 원한다면 이스라엘은 팔레스타인 수감자들을 풀어주어야 할것이라고 말했습니다.
칼레드 미샬씨는 팔레스타인인들은 모두 수감자 교환석방을 원하고 있다고 말했습니다. 미샬씨는 삼엄한 경비조치가 취해진가운데 10일 시리아수도 다마스커스에서 기자들에게 억류당해있는 이스라엘군인을 가리켜 전범이라고 부르고 2주일전 그가 납치된이래 계속되고 있는 가자지역에 대한 이스라엘의 공격을 규탄했습니다.
그러나 이스라엘의 에후드 올메르트총리는 이스라엘군의 석방을 위해 팔레스타인과의 수감자교환석방을 협상하는 일은 없을 것이라고 말했습니다. 이스라엘군의 공세작전은 그 이스라엘군 병사가 석방되고 팔레스타인 민명대가 이스라엘을 겨냥한 락켓트포 발사를 중단할때까지 그치지 않을 것이라고 올메르트총리는 강조했습니다. 팔레스타인 관리들은 가자지구에 대한 이스라엘 군의 공습으로 10일 과격분자 한명이 사망하고 최소한 다섯명이 부상했다고 말하고 있습니다.

The exiled political leader of Hamas says Israel must free Palestinian prisoners to win the release of an Israeli soldier held by Palestinian militants.
Khaled Meshaal says the Palestinian people are united on the prisoner-swap issue. He spoke to reporters under tight security in Damascus (Syria) today (Monday). Meshaal referred to the captured Israeli soldier as a prisoner of war and condemned Israel's attacks on Gaza since his abduction two weeks ago.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has ruled out negotiating or swapping prisoners for the soldier's release. Mr. Olmert says Israel's military campaign will press on until the soldier is freed and Palestinian militants stop firing rockets into Israel.
Palestinian officials say Israeli airstrikes killed three militants today (Monday) in the Gaza Strip. More than 50 Palestinians have been killed during the Israeli military operation.
