Israeli officials say Palestinian militants have killed two Israeli soldiers and abducted a third during a raid on an army post near the Gaza border.
Israeli military chief of staff Dan Halutz says that as far as the army knows, the soldier is still alive.
Today's (Sunday's) attack is the first time Palestinian militants have tunneled into Israel itself since Israeli troops withdrew from the Gaza Strip last year.
Israeli officials say three Palestinian militants were killed in the attack.
Israeli military officials say troops backed by tanks and helicopter gunships entered Gaza after the attack.
