마누체르 모타키 이란 외무장관은 22일 스위스 제네바에서 열린 유엔 인권이사회 연설에서 서구의 문화 강요를 단일문화라고 지칭하며 비판했습니다. 모타키 장관은 또 특정 종교를 비방하는 것은 받아들일 수 없으며 거부돼야 한다고 말했습니다.
한편 인권이사회에 참석한 이란 대표단이 물의를 빚고 있습니다. 피터 맥케이 캐나다 외무장관은 이란 대표단에 검사인 사에드 모르타자비씨가 포함된 것을 비판하는 성명을 발표했습니다. 이란 정부의 수사결과에 따르면 모르타자비씨는 캐나다인 언론인의 체포를 지시했는데, 이 언론인은 이란 당국에 의해 고문과 구타, 성폭행을 당한 뒤 구금 상태에서 지난 2003년 사망했습니다.

Iran is calling on the United Nations to stop the West from imposing its culture on the rest of the world.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki criticized what he called "uniculturalism," in a speech today (Thursday) in Geneva before the new U.N. Human Rights Council. He also said insulting certain religions is unacceptable and should be rejected.
Meanwhile, the Iranian delegation to the meeting generated controversy of its own. Canadian Foreign Minister Peter MacKay issued a statement condemning the inclusion of Iranian prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi.
Investigations conducted by the previous Iranian administration determined that Mortazavi ordered the arrest of a Canadian journalist, and that she was tortured, raped and beaten. She died in Iranian custody in 2003.
The prosecutor has also been accused of involvement in a harsh clampdown on the Iranian press.
