A top hard-line Iranian cleric says Iran should continue to enrich uranium - even though world powers have offered Tehran incentives to suspend the sensitive nuclear work.
During Friday prayers in Tehran, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said the incentives package is, in his words, "good for them" but not for Iran.
Ayatollah Jannati is the head of the Guardian Council, a constitutional arbitrator between the parliament and the government.
The United Nations nuclear agency said in a report circulated Thursday that Iran launched a new round of uranium enrichment this week - even as the world powers offered the incentives package to Tehran.
The United States says Iran must suspend all enrichment activities in order to accept the package and return to multilateral nuclear talks. That package is believed to include a threat of sanctions if Iran fails to cooperate.
