구스마오 대통령은 29일 대통령 궁에서 열린 정부의 위기 수습 회담 막간에 이같이 냉정을 호소하고, 동부와 서부의 인종 집단들에게 화해해 단합을 보여주도록 촉구했습니다. 이 위기 회담은 30일에 이틀째 계속될것으로 보입니다.
대통령궁 밖에선 일단의 시위자들이 마리 알키티리 총리의 사임을 요구했습니다. 딜리시의 상황은 호주군 주도의 평화 유지군이 시가지를 순찰하고 갱단원들을 일제히 검거하고있음에 따라 29일 더욱 평온한 것으로 보입니다.

East Timor President Xanana Gusmao is appealing for rival ethnic gangs to leave the streets of Dili after they rampaged through the city for several days.
Mr. Gusmao appealed for calm today (Monday) during a break in crisis talks with his government at the presidential palace. He urged the country's eastern and western ethnic groups to reconcile in a show of unity.
The crisis talks are expected to continue for a second day Tuesday.
Outside the presidential palace, a group of protesters demanded Prime Minister Mari Alkitiri resign.
The situation in Dili appeared more peaceful today (Monday) as an Australian-led peacekeeping force patrolled city streets and rounded up gang members.
Violence between rival gangs began Friday as people set fire to buildings and vehicles, and fought with machetes.
