Chinese state media say police have detained four more people in connection with a coal mine flood in northern China that trapped 56 miners.
The official Xinhua news agency says police have now detained 19 people for involvement in the accident 10 days ago. Those detained include managers of the mine, bank workers, and officials from Zuoyun county, where the mine is based.
Chinese state media say local officials initially tried to cover up the accident by offering hush money to the miners' families. The officials were also accused of trying to send the families away to Inner Mongolia to keep them from talking to the media.
Xinhua says emergency teams are still pumping water from the Xinjiang mine in Shanxi province, but the chances of finding anyone alive are slim.
