마무드 압바스 팔레스타인 자치정부 수반은 만일 하마스가 팔레스타인과 마찬가지로 이스라엘을 국가로 인정하는 방안을 10일 이내에 수용하지 않을 경우 이를 국민투표에 부치겠다고 말했습니다.
압바스 수반은 하마스와 파타당간의 견해차를 좁히기 위한 목적으로 요르단강 서안의 라말라 시에서 이틀 일정으로 열리는 한 회의에서 이같이 말했습니다. 압바스 수반은 국민투표가 40일 이후에 열릴 수 있다고 말했습니다.
최근 하마스와 파타당 사이의 폭력이 발생해 10명이 사망했습니다. 보안 관리들은 25일 가자에서 무장 충돌이 발생해 5명이 부상했다고 말했습니다.
이스마일 하니야 하마스 총리는 가자에서 화상전화를 걸어 회의 참석자들에게 연설하는 가운데 자신은 팔레스타인의 단결을 위한 결의로 있으며 내전을 피하기 위해 노력할 것이라고 맹세했습니다.
하니야 하마스 총리는 자신들의 적은 ‘이스라엘 점령’이라고 말했습니다. 하니야 하마스 총리는 이스라엘의 여행 제한 조치때문에 이 회의에 직접 참석하지 못했습니다.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says he will call a national referendum on accepting a Palestinian state alongside Israel, if Hamas does not agree to the idea in 10 days.
Mr. Abbas spoke today (Thursday) in the West Bank city of Ramallah at the start of a two-day conference aimed at bridging the differences between rivals Hamas and Fatah.
Mr. Abbas said the referendum would be held in a further 40 days.
Recent violence between Hamas and Fatah has killed 10 people. Security sources say five people were injured in armed clashes today in Gaza.
Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas addressed the gathering via videophone from Gaza. He said that he is committed to unity and vowed to avoid civil war. He said the enemy is Israeli occupation. Israeli travel restrictions prevented him from traveling to the conference.
