President Bush says the new government in Iraq marks a victory for the cause of freedom in the Middle East.The president spoke today (Monday) to a business group in (the midwestern U.S. city of) Chicago.
He defended his policies in Iraq and said the formation of a new Iraqi government marks a decisive point in the struggle against terrorism.
President Bush said he understands why some people question the U.S. strategy in Iraq. But he said they must understand there is a global war against a totalitarian group of terrorists and the struggle in Iraq is key to defeating the terrorists.
Mr. Bush also said he is concerned about democracy in Venezuela and Bolivia, and he called on leaders there to respect property rights and human rights.
