Palestinian security officials say they have confiscated 804 thousand dollars from a spokesman of the militant group Hamas at the Egypt-Gaza Strip border.
Palestinian customs agents say Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri was stopped today (Friday) at the Rafah border crossing as he tried to enter Gaza from Egypt.
According to a U.S.-brokered agreement on the border crossing's operation, Palestinians bringing in large sums of money must give 24-hours notice to Palestinians and Europeans overseeing the passage, and show official documentation of the money's origin.
Security officials say Abu Zuhri did not comply with those rules.
