중국의 초대형 삼협댐 건설 공사가 예정보다 9개월이 빠른 이달 중에 완공될 것이라고 중국 관영 신화 통신이 보도했습니다.
신화 통신은 삼협댐 공사가 완공되기 위해서는 3천 입방 미터의 콩크리트가 더 필요하며 세계 최대 규모의 수력발전소가 오는 2009년 완전 가동 되기에 앞서 여러 대의 발전기들이 가설돼야할 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.
지난 1998년에 시공된 이 댐은 폭 2킬로 미터에 높이가 근 200 미터에 달하고 있습니다.

Chinese state media say the construction of the Three Gorges dam will be completed this month, nine months ahead of schedule.
The official Xinhua news agency says less than three thousand cubic meters of concrete needs to be poured before the dam is completed.
But several generators still must be installed before the world's biggest hydroelectric power project becomes fully operational in 2009.
The dam, near the Xiling gorge on the Yangtze River, is more than two kilometers wide and almost 200 meters high. Construction began in 1998.
The 22 billion-dollar Three Gorges project has been criticized for its high cost and its displacement of thousands of people.
