Ambassadors from the United States, Britain and France are set to brief the U.N. Security Council today (Wednesday) on a proposed resolution that would demand Iran halt its uranium enrichment program.
U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said the session will allow the Western allies to tell the full 15-member Security Council their views and strategies for dealing with Iran's refusal to end its nuclear fuel work.
In Paris Tuesday, European and U.S. negotiators discussed elements of a resolution that would require Tehran to comply with the demands of the International Atomic Energy Agency to stop the fuel work.
Officials at the Paris talks say the Western allies want to submit a resolution under Chapter Seven of the U.N. Charter, which allows sanctions.
China and Russia have threatened to veto any resolution advocating sanctions or military threats against the Tehran government.
