네팔 의회는 군주제 국가인 네팔의 미래를 결정하게 될 새로운 헌법을 작성할 특별 위원회 구성을 위한 선거 실시 계획을 만장 일치로 승인했습니다.
의회의 그같은 결정은 네팔의 기리자 프리사드 코이랄라 신임 총리가 30일 공식 취임식을 갖고, 마오쩌둥 주의 반군에게 폭력을 포기하고 평화 과정에 합류하라고 촉구한 지 몇 시간 만에 나왔습니다.
당초 코이랄라 총리의 취임식은 지난 28일 열릴 예정이었지만, 올해 84살인 코이랄라 총리의 건강 문제 때문에 그동안 연기됐었습니다.
코이랄라 신임 총리는 이번 달에 19일 동안 가넨드라 국왕의 절대 통치에 항의하는 가두 시위를 벌이면서 수 십만 명의 참여를 이끌어 낸 7개 주요 야당 가운데 하나인 네팔 의회당 대표를 맡고 있습니다.

Nepal's parliament has unanimously approved a plan to hold elections for a special panel to draw up a new constitution that will decide the future of the monarchy. No date was set for the elections.
The lawmakers' decision came hours after the country's new Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala took the oath of office at the royal palace (Sunday) and called on Maoist rebels to renounce violence and join the peace process.
The ceremony had been scheduled for Friday, but was postponed while the 84-year-old Mr. Koirala recovered from a lung condition.
The new prime minister is head of the Nepali Congress, one of the seven opposition parties that rallied hundreds of thousands of people onto the streets for 19 days this month to protest absolute rule by King Gyanendra.
