세계은행 회원국들은 아프리카와 남아메리카의 17개국의 부채 3백70억 달러를 탕감시키는 계획을 승인했습니다.
폴 월포비츠 세계은행총재는 23일, 워싱턴에서 세계은행 회의가 열리고 있는 가운데 세계은행 회원국들중 3분의 2가 부채탕감 계획을 승인했다고 밝히면서 탕감계획이 7월부터 시행될 수 있을 것이라고 말했습니다.
세계은행의 이 같은 계획은 세계주요 8개국 회원국들이 세계 최빈국들의 부채를 탕감해주기로 약속한데 따른 것입니다.

World Bank member nations meeting in Washington have approved a debt relief plan for 17 African and Latin American countries that could total 37 billion dollars over 40 years.
World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz said two-thirds of the bank members have now approved the plan, meaning the bank could start forgiving debts in July.
The move follows July's pledge from the wealthy G-8 countries to cancel the debt of the world's poorest countries, many of which are located in Africa.
