세계은행의 폴 월포비츠 총재는 인도네시아의 경제성장과 투자확대를 가로막는 가장 큰 걸림돌은, 인도네시아내 만연한 부정부패라고 지적했습니다.
인도네시아를 방문한 월포비츠 총재는 13일, 자카르타에서 인도네시아는 경제성장율을 7 퍼센트 이상까지 높일수 있을 것으로 본다고 말했습니다.
월포비츠 총재는 개발도상국 기관들의 투명성과 신뢰도를 높여 투자자 자신감을 높이는 것이 열쇠하고 말했습니다.
인도네시아는 전세계 가장 부패한 나라들 가운데 하나로 꼽히고 있습니다.
18개월전 수실로 밤방 유도요노 대통령이 부패척결을 다짐하며 취임한 이후 여러 정부관리들이 부정행위로 수감되거나 재판을 받았으나, 월포비츠 총재는 투자자들이 아직까지 인도네시아의 사법제도를 신뢰하지않는다며 더 많은 개혁이 필요하다고 말했습니다.

World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz says corruption in Indonesia is the biggest obstacle to expanding investment and economic growth in the country.
Wolfowitz told reporters in Jakarta today (Thursday) that he believes Indonesia could increase its economic growth rate up to seven percent or higher. He says the key is to improve investor confidence by developing government institutions that deliver services in a transparent and accountable way.
Indonesia has consistently been one of the most corrupt countries in the world. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono came in to office 18 months ago, pledging to fight corruption, and a number of government officials have gone on trial or gone to jail for corruption.
But Wolfowitz says more has to be done as investors still do not trust the judicial system to resolve legal issues in a fair and honest way.
