라이베리아의 챨스 테일러 전 대통령이 이번 주중에 시에라리온의 유엔 전범 재판소 법정에 첫 출두할수 있다고 전범 재판 담당 수석 검사가 말했습니다.
테일러 전 대통령은 지난 29일 나이지리아 국경에서 카메룬으로 넘어가려 시도하던중 나이지리아 경찰에 체포된지 몇 시간만에 유엔 전범 재판소가 설치된 시에라리온으로 압송됐습니다.
테일러 전 대통령은 지난 2002년 종료된 10년간의 잔혹했던 시아라리온 내전 기간도중 전쟁 범죄외 살인 등 11가지 혐의로 유엔 전범 재판소에 기소됐습니다. 시에라리온의 유엔 전범 재판소 데스몬드 데 실바 수석 검사는 그러나 테일러의 정식 재판이 시작되기 위해서는 몇 달이 걸릴 것이라고 말했습니다.

Former Liberian President Charles Taylor could make his first appearance before the United Nations-backed war crimes tribunal in Sierre Leone later this week, according to the tribunal's chief prosecutor.
Taylor was delivered to the court on Wednesday just hours after he was arrested by Nigerian authorities as he was trying to cross the border into Cameroon. He is charged with 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity for his alleged role in Sierre Leone's brutal 10-year civil war, which ended in 2002.
But chief prosecutor Desmond de Silva says it will be several months before Taylor's trial begins.
Nigeria had granted Taylor asylum since 2003 as part of a peace agreement that ended Liberia's long civil war. He disappeared after Nigeria agreed to a request by Liberia to extradite him.
