벨라루스 경찰은 25일 수도 민스크에서 벌어진 야당의 항의시위를 강제 해산하고, 야당 대통령 후보 알렉산더 코즐린 씨를 구속했습니다. 목격자들은 이날 경찰이 동료들이 구금돼 있는 구치소로 행진하려는 항의시위대를 저지하는 가운데 다른 여러 명의 인사들과 함께 코즐린 씨도 체포됐다고 말했습니다.
한 야당 참모는 경찰이 주요 야당 후보인 알렉산더 밀린케비치 씨의 개인 대변인도 구속했다고 밝혔습니다. 이에 앞서 밀린케비치 씨는 수천 명의 지지자들과 함께 지난 19일의 대통령선거 결과에 반대하는 항의시위를 벌였습니다.
이 항의시위는 경찰이 민스크 시의 [10월광장] 입구를 봉쇄하자 시위장소를 인근 공원으로 옮겼습니다. 밀린케비치 씨는 이번 선거에서 알렉산더 루카쉔코 현 대통령에게 압도적인 표차로 패배했습니다. 서방 국가들은 이번 선거가 비민주적이었다고 비난한 반면, 러시아는 선거가 자유롭고 투명했다고 주장했습니다.

Belarus police have broken up an opposition protest in the capital, Minsk, and taken into custody an opposition presidential candidate, Alexander Kozulin.
Witnesses say Kozulin was among several people arrested today (Saturday) as police blocked protesters trying to march towards a detention center where their comrades were being held..
An opposition aide says police also detained a personal spokesman for main opposition candidate, Alexander Milinkevich.
Earlier today, Milinkevich had led thousands of supporters in a protest against the results of last Sunday's disputed presidential election. The rally had been moved to the park after police blocked the entrance Minsk's October Square
Milinkevich lost in a landslide to hard-line President Alexander Lukashenko. Western countries condemned the vote as undemocratic, but Russia called it free and transparent.
Milinkevich and his supporters say they want a new and fair election.
