이라크 정부는 이에 앞서 아랍위성방송 알 아라비야방송의 아트와르 바흐자트 여기자와 동료 2명을 살해한 혐의로 6명을 구속했다고 발표한 바 있습니다.

One day before the third anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq, President Bush has continued his drive to convince Americans that going to war was the right thing to do. Mr. Bush said on U.S. radio today (Saturday) that U.S. strategy in Iraq is getting results, slowly but surely.
He said the response of Iraqi leaders to sectarian violence shows they are committed to democracy. And he said the violence has created a new sense of urgency to form a national unity government as soon as possible.
(In the Democratic response) Senator Dianne Feinstein (of California) said today Mr. Bush needs to show the leadership necessary to bring Iraq's political factions together. Recent public opinion polls have shown that a majority of Americans now believes the war was a mistake.
The Iraqi government says that six people have been detained in connection with the killing of an editor of state-run Iraqia television and his driver. Amjad Hameed and his driver were gunned down in Baghdad a week ago.
The Iraqi government had earlier announced that the six were taken into custody for the killing of a female journalist with al-Arabiya and her two-person crew.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military says a large-scale operation that was launched Thursday near Samarra has resulted in the capture of 83 suspected insurgents and the seizure of 15 weapons caches.
In Baghdad today (Saturday), at least one Shi'ite pilgrim was killed in a roadside bombing. The U.S military also announced that two American soldiers were killed Thursday in Tikrit.
