이스라엘 보건당국은 5명의 환자가 병원에 입원한 가운데 의사들이 치명적인 H5N1 조류 독감 바이러스 감염 여부를 확인하고 있다고 밝혔습니다. 병원 관리들은 태국 국적의 한 남성이 독감 증세를 호소한뒤 병원에 입원했으며 다른 4명의 이스라엘인들 역시 조류 독감 증세를 보여 병원측의 진찰을 받고 있다고 말했습니다.
이 같은 보도는 지난 몇일 동안 이라스엘 적어도 2개지역 이상에서 만 마리 이상의 칠면조가 죽은채 발견돼 조류 독감 감염 우려가 커지고 있는 가운데 나왔습니다.

Israeli health officials say five people are hospitalized as doctors look for signs of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.
Hospital officials say a Thai national was admitted today (Friday) after complaining of flu symptoms. Four Israelis are also being observed for signs of bird flu.
Reports of the illnesses follow the discovery over the last several days of more than 10-thousand dead birds in Negev Desert farming communities, halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Officials say initial tests indicate that the birds died of bird flu. Health Ministry director-general Avi Yisraeli says the government has ordered four million units of bird flu vaccine from Holland and has sent protective clothing and medicines to the affected area, now under quarantine.
