이라크에서 사담 후세인 전 대통령재판의 수석판사는 사담후세인 전 대통령과 열띤 공방전을 벌인 뒤를 이어 기자들의 법정접근을 금지했습니다.
그 몇분전 사담 후세인 전 이라크 대통령이 살해 명령 혐의와 관련해 법정에서 증언을 시작했습니다. 후세인은 15일 바그다드에서 열린 재판에서 자신과 7명의 측근들에 대한 재판은 희극이라고 비난하며 증언을 시작했습니다.
이날 수석 재판관은 후세인에게 정치 연설을 중단하라고 명령했습니다. 후세인의 증언은 그가 1982년 두자이 마을에서 발생한 회교 시아파 남성 148명에 대해 살해를 명령한 혐의와 관련해 증언하기로한뒤 2주만에 다시 열렸습니다.
후세인은 이 명령이 합법적이었으며 당시 판사는 자신에 대한 암살 시도 실패와 관련해 모든 용의자들에게 유죄를 선고했다고 말했습니다.

The chief judge in the trial of Saddam Hussein has barred journalists from the courtroom, after a heated exchange with the former Iraqi leader minutes after he began testifying.
Saddam took the stand today (Wednesday) in Baghdad, and immediately called the tribunal a "comedy." He then launched into an address that the judge called a political speech and urged him to stop. The defendant continued, insisting that he is still the president of Iraq.
But the judge reminded Saddam that he is now a defendant and no longer the president. Then, the judge closed the proceedings to the media. Saddam's appearance comes two weeks after he admitted giving orders that led to the killing of 148 Shi'ite males in the Iraqi village of Dujail in 1982.
He said the orders were legal, and that a judge had found all of the executed guilty in a failed assassination attempt against him. Saddam and his seven co-defendants face death by hanging if found guilty of the killings.
