한국의 노무현 대통령과 알제리의 압델라지즈 부테플리카 대통령은 12일 알제리 수도 알제에서 공동 선언에 서명했습니다. 두 지도자는 앞으로 알제리의 천연 가스와 석유 자원 개발을 위해 협력하고, 정치 경제 문제에 관한 광범위한 협력을 증대하기로 다짐했습니다.
두 나라가 지난 1990년에 공식 외교 관계를 수리한 이후 한국 대통령이 알제리를 방문하기는 이번이 처음입니다.

Algeria and South Korea have agreed on a strategic partnership to increase their economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector. Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria and Roh Moo-hyun of South Korea signed a joint declaration Sunday in Algiers.
They pledged to work together in future development of the North African nation's natural gas and oil resources, and increase their wide-ranging cooperation on political and economic issues.
Mr. Roh is the first South Korean president to visit Algeria since the two countries established formal diplomatic relations in 1990. He arrived in Algiers (the capital) Saturday for a three-day visit.
