이라크에서 회교 종파간 유혈폭력 사태가 계속되는 가운데 시아파 회교도인 이브라힘 알-자파리 총리에 대한 새 정부의 총리 연임을 포기하라는 압력이 증대되고 있습니다.
잘랄 탈라바니 이라크 대통령은 수니파와 쿠르드족 및 비종교적인 정치지도자들에 이어 알-자파리 총리에게 거국적인 단합을 위해 새 정부의 총리직 경쟁에서 물러나라고 촉구했습니다.
탈라바니 대통령은 알-자파리 총리가 물러나지 않으면 새로운 이라크 정부구성이 더욱 더 지연될 것이라고 말했습니다.
이보다 앞서 수니파 회교 지도자들은 알-자파리 총리가 시아파 민병대들의 수니파 회교사원에 대한 보복공격을 충분히 저지하지 못하고 있다고 비난했습니다.
5일에도 이라크 수도, 바그다드에서 수니파 회교 사원이 공격을 받아 세 사람이 숨졌습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari is facing growing pressure to abandon his bid for a new term as sectarian violence continues in the country.
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has joined Sunni, Kurdish, and secular politicians in calling on Shi'ite Mr. Jaafari to step down in a bid to promote national unity. Mr. Talabani says failure to do so could further delay the formation of an Iraqi government.
Sunni leaders say Mr. Jaafari has not done enough to stop Shi'ite militianmen from carrying out revenge attacks on Sunni mosques after the February 22nd bombing of a Shi'ite shrine.
An attack today (Sunday) on a Sunni mosque in Baghdad left three people dead. Police say the attackers who stormed the al-Nour mosque wore military uniforms.
