페루 정부는 미국의 명문사학 예일대학교를 상대로 지난 1911년에서 1916년 사이에 고대 유적지인 마추 피추에서 발굴해 간 수천 건의 유물 반환 소송을 제기할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
이번 소송에는 약 1 세기 전에 고고학자인 히람 빙함씨가 옛 잉카문명 유적지에서 가져 간 도자기 조각들과 뼈 등 유물이 포함될 예정입니다.
이들 유물 중 상당수는 현재 미 동부 뉴헤이븐에 있는 예일대학 피바디 박물관에 전시돼 있습니다.

Peru plans to sue Yale University for the return of hundreds of artifacts taken from the ancient city of Machu Picchu between 1911 and 1916.
At issue are artifacts including pottery fragments, bones and other items taken from the Incan city by archeologist Hiram Bingham nearly a century ago.
Yale administrators offered to jointly exhibit the artifacts and to support the construction of a new museum in Peru to exhibit the items.
