올해 77세인 샤론 총리는 지난 1월 4일 뇌졸중으로 쓰러져 뇌수술을 받은 뒤, 계속 혼수상태에서 깨어나지 못하고 있습니다.
의사들은 지난 2월 1일에 샤론 총리의 위에 급식 튜브를 삽입했습니다. 이같은 조치는 환자가 빨리 회복하지 않을 것으로 보일 때 실시하는 것이라고, 전문가들은 말했습니다.
현재 이스라엘 총리직은 에후드 올메르트 부총리가 대행하고 있습니다.

Doctors treating Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon say his life is in danger as he undergoes emergency surgery for digestive complications.
A spokesman for Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital (Ron Krumer) said today (Saturday) a routine examination revealed that Mr. Sharon's digestive tract was seriously damaged. He said the discovery prompted immediate surgery.
The 77-year-old Israeli leader has been in a coma since suffering a massive stroke January fourth. After being hospitalized, he underwent extensive surgery to reduce swelling in the brain. Attempts to bring Mr. Sharon out of a coma since then have been unsuccessful.
Doctors inserted a feeding tube in the Israeli prime minister's stomach on February first. Experts say the procedure is recommended when patients are not expected to make a swift recovery.
