중국의 국제 특허 출원 건수가 크게 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다고 유엔의 세계 지적 재산권 기구 (WIPO) 가 밝혔습니다. WIPO는 중국이 국제 특허 출원 건수에서 전년보다 44 퍼센트가 증가해 세계 10위에 올랐다고 밝혔습니다.
한국과 일본의 특허 출원 건수도 전년보다 증가한 가운데 한국은 작년에 총 4천 747 건을 출원해 미국과 일본 독일, 프랑스, 영국에 이어 6위를 차지했습니다.
세계 지적 재산권 기구는 한 중 일 세 나라의 특허 출원 건수가 증가한 것은 이들 국가들의 첨단 기술력이 급속히 성장하고 있음을 반영하는 것이라고 말했습니다.
한편 작년의 전세계 특허 출원 건수는 총 13만 4천건을 기록해 전년보다 10 퍼센트 증가한 것으로 나타났습니다.

The United Nations agency overseeing requests for international patents says applications from China soared last year.
The World Intellectual Property Organization says China's applications increased nearly 44 percent, moving it into 10 place on the list of countries with the most international patent requests.
Applications from South Korea and Japan also increased. The head of the U.N. agency says the increases reflect the rapidly expanding technological strength of those two Asian nations.
The United States has the most patent requests pending under the patent cooperation treaty.
More than 134-thousand requests for international patent protection were filed in 2005, up nearly 10 percent over 2004.
