김 전 대통령은 지난 2000년, 김정일 국방위원장과 정상회담을 성사시킴에 따라 노벨 평화상을 수상했습니다.
올해 80세인 김대중 전 대통령은 다시 한번 평양을 방문하고싶다는 뜻을 자주 비춰왔으나, 김 전 대통령의 보좌관들은 남북한 정부가 아직 세부사항을 논의해야한다고 말했습니다.
김대중 전 대통령은 이날 회견에서, 북한기업들의 위폐제조와 돈세탁 혐의와 관련해, 미국이 직접적인 증거를 갖고있는지 의심스럽다며, 북한에 대한 미국정부의 제재조치를 비판했습니다.

In an interview with South Korea's Segye Times newspaper, Kim Dae-jung says he would travel to the North as a private citizen in a bid to promote inter-Korean peace.
