일본 아키히토 왕은 제2차 세계대전 일본 전범들의 위패가 함께 합사돼 있는 도쿄 야스쿠니 신사를 참배하지 않을 것 같다고 아베 신조 일본 관방장관이 말했습니다.
신조 장관은 30일, 아소 다로 일 외상이 일왕의 야스쿠니 신사참배를 주장한 발언과는 달리 이같이 말했습니다.
아소 다로 외상은 지난 주에 일왕이 야스쿠니 신사를 참배할 것을 촉구해 또 다시 한국과 중국의 반발을 불러 일으켰습니다.
한국과 중국은 야스쿠니 신사는 일본1급 전범들의 위패가 일반 전몰자들의 위패와 함께 합사되 있기 때문에 일본의 과거 군국주의 침략의 상징으로 보고 있습니다.
아키히토 왕은 1989년에 즉위한 이래 부친 야스쿠니 신사를 참배하지 않고 있습니다. 히로히토 전 일왕은 야스쿠니 신사를 참배했었으나 1급 전범들의 위패가 이곳에 합사된1978년 이후에는 참배하지 않았습니다.

Japan's government says Emperor Akihito is not likely to visit a shrine in Tokyo honoring Japanese victims of the Second World War.
Comments in Tokyo today (Monday) in Tokyo by the chief government spokesman (Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe) ran counter to Foreign Minister Taro Aso's recent suggestion that the emperor should visit the controversial shrine.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's annual visits to the Yasukuni war shrine have strained Japan's relations with China and South Korea, which see the memorial as a symbol of past Japanese aggression.
In a speech last week, Aso urged the emperor last week to visit the shrine, to honor the memory of Japan's soldiers who went to war swearing their allegiance to the country's ruler.
Emperor Akihito has not visited the shrine since he took the throne in 1989. (His father, Japan's wartime emperor Hirohito, had visited the shrine in the past, but not after 1978, when the memorial tribute at Yasukuni was broadened to include Japanese found guilty of war crimes in World War Two.)
