A.B.C. television's Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt were wounded while traveling with a convoy of U.S. and Iraqi troops near Baghdad.
A.B.C. News says the two were standing in the hatch of the vehicle when the device exploded. They suffered head injuries despite wearing helmets and body armor.
Woodruff and Vogt were rushed to a U.S. military hospital in Iraq were they underwent surgery.
