미국항공우주국, 나사는 태양계에서 탐사되지 않은 마지막 행성인 명왕성을 탐사하기 위한 우주선 ‘뉴 호라이즌스’를 17일 오후 발사하기 위해 마지막 준비 작업을 하고 있습니다.
‘뉴 호라이즌스’ 탐사선은 이곳 동부 시간으로 17일 오후 1시 24분에 플로리다주 케이프 케네브랄 우주 기지에서 강력한 아틀라스 로켓에 실려 발사될 예정입니다.
아틀라스 로켓은 ‘뉴 호라이즌스’ 탐사선을 우주선 발사 역사상 가장 빠른 시속 5만 8천 킬로미터의 속도로 여행해 우주에 진입시킬 예정입니다. 나사는 이 탐사선이 오는 2015년에는 명왕성에 도착할 것이라고 말하고 있습니다.

The U.S. space agency NASA is making final preparations for this (Tuesday) afternoon's scheduled launch of a probe to study Pluto, the solar system's last unexplored planet.
The New Horizons probe will blast off from NASA's launch facilities in (the southern U.S. state of) Florida at 1:24 local time (1824 GMT) aboard a powerful Atlas rocket.
The rocket will send the New Horizons probe hurtling into the universe at a speed of 58-thousand kilometers an hour, the fastest spacecraft ever launched. At that speed, NASA says the probe should reach Pluto by 2015.
The probe will conduct fly-by studies of Pluto and its primary moon, Charon, gathering information about the two bodies' surface, geology and atmosphere.
