유엔의 대 버마 특사가 근 2년에 걸친 버마 방문 허가 취득 노력이 실패하자 사임했습니다.
말레이시아 외교관인 라잘리 이스마일 특사는 8일 기자들에게 특사로서의 공식 직책이 최근에 끝났으며, 버마 군사 정권이 자신의 복귀를 원치않는게 분명하다고 말했습니다.
라잘리 특사는 지난 2000년 4월 유엔 특사직을 맡은 이래 버마 군사 정부 지도자들에게 민주화 개혁에 박차를 가하도록 오랫동안 압력을 가해왔으며, 투옥돼있는 민주화 지도자, 아웅 산 수지 여사의 석방을 공개적으로 촉구해왔습니다.

The United Nations special envoy to Burma has resigned after failing to gain permission to visit to the country for nearly two years.
Speaking to reporters today (Sunday), Malaysian diplomat Razali Ismail said his official contract recently ended and it is clear Burma's military regime does not want him back.
Mr. Razali has long pressed Burmese leaders to speed democratic reforms and he publicly called for the release of jailed democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi.
