The supply of fresh water in southern China's Guangdong province is being severely threatened by rising levels of salt in local rivers.
The official China Daily newspaper reported today (Thursday) residents of some cities in Guangdong have been advised to stop drinking tap water.
The paper quoted a government official as saying a strong tide of salt water will last until January third.
