미국은 대량살상무기 제조에 사용될 수 있는 장비를 이란에 공급한 중국과 인도, 오스트리아 소재 9개 기업의 미국 내 거래를 금지했다고 밝혔습니다. 이번 제재 대상은 노린코란 이름의 미사일 수출업체 등 6개 중국 기업과 인도의 2개 화학회사 및 오스트리아의 무기 제조업체 입니다.
아담 어렐리 미 국무부 대변인은 미국은 이들 기업이 민감한 장비와 기술을 부적절하게 이란에 넘겼다는 믿을만한 정보를 갖고 있다고 말했습니다. 이번 제재는 1년 간 유효하며 대상 기업들은 미국 정부와의 거래 및 미국의 첨단제품에 대한 접근이 금지됩니다.
미국은 이란의 무기확산을 저지하기 위해 지난 2000년 이래 40여개 기업에 대해 제재를 가했습니다.

The United States says it has blacklisted nine businesses based in China, India and Austria because they supplied Iran with equipment that can be used for weapons of mass destruction.
The government sanctions affect six Chinese companies -- including a missile exporter (China North Industries Group, better) known as Norinco -- as well as two Indian chemical companies and an Austria weapons manufacturer (Steyr-Mannlicher).
(The U.S. State Department identified the Indian firms as Sabero Organics Chemical and Sandhya Organics Chemical. It listed the other Chinese firms as China Aero-Technology Import-Export Corp. [CATIC], Zibo Chemet Equipment Co., Hongdu Aviation Industry Group, Ounion International Economic and Technical Cooperative Ltd. and Limmt Metallurgy and Minerals Co.)
A (State Department) spokesman in Washington (Adam Ereli) says the United States has credible information showing the companies improperly transferred sensitive equipment or technology to Iran.
The sanctions (announced Tuesday), in effect for one year, bar the firms from doing business with the U.S. government or from access to any American high-technology products.
The United States has sanctioned more than 40 companies and individuals (since 2000) in an effort to stop weapons proliferation involving Iran.
